General
In addition to their much-appreciated bass amplifiers and speaker cabinets, Aguilar produce a series of preamps that can be built into your bass guitar. These devices are known as on-board preamps, or OBPs. The OBP-3 is the most advanced preamp from this series and comes as a part of a number of different sets for numerous installation options. This is the OBP-3SK/PP, the S stands for Stacked, which means one potentiometer has several functions. Additionally, PP stands for Push/Pull.
The OBP-3SK/PP set
With the OBP-3 on-board preamp for bass guitars you can fit your bass with an active 3-band EQ that allows you to boost or filter bass, mids and trebles (18 dB at 40 Hz for the bass, 16 dB at 6.5 Hz for the trebles and 16 dB at 400 or 800 Hz for the mids). In addition to the OBP-3 preamp the Aguilar OBP-3SK/PP kit comprises a combined treble/bass potentiometer and a push/pull mids potentiometer. Pushing or pulling the mid potentiometer lets you select the frequency range (400 or 800 Hz).

If you would like to use the immense tonal possibilities of Aguilar's OPB but keep the body of your bass guitar intact then this is a great set for you. You need to drill no extra holes to fit the Aguilar OBP-3SK-PP to your guitar and enjoy its many sonic capabilities.
